U14s win the league

Congratulations to Mitchels U14 team who last night beat Annaderg on a scoreline of 6-
14 to 3-6. In the process they won the Div 3 league trophy, emerging unbeaten
after 13 games. The team won every league game they played, against Annaderg,
Glassdrumman, Drumgath, Attical and Longstone. In the final game of the season,
they seemed rusty in the first half, finding it difficult to find their form. Points from Gerry
Hart, Gary Hart, and a brace from Danny Talbot
took Mitchels into the break just one point down, and that because Annaderg were
awarded a disputed goal by the referee! The second half was a different story, with
the defence just as tight, but the forwards finding their fluency. Goals from Jordan
Coyle, Bryan Magill and Danny Talbot, along with a hat-trick from Gerry Hart, sealed the
victory, but it was the 14 points (13 from play) which were so impressive. In the end
7 different players appeared on the score-sheet, including Steven Shields and midfielder
Conor McCartan. Forwards Emmet Irwin and sub Fintan Carolan also played their part,
delivering crucial passes and tackles. In defence, 'keeper Patrick Sweeney was excellent,
making numerous point blank saves during the game. He was ably supported by
defenders Conor Havern, Sean Tierney, Kevin Thompson, Conor O'Hagan, Conor Sloan
and Emmanuel Irwin. Other players unavailable for the final game were John Fitzpatrick,
Kaspar Kruzycki, Orlagh McLogan and Shea Concannon, who all played an important part
in the league success. Well done to all the players and mentors, who have worked
so hard all year!

U12s make the final

Well done to Mitchels U12s, who reached the Shield Final at the Mayobridge Tournament
last weekend. Their opponents were Glenn, and both teams showed great skill and
determination throughout. Goals were in plentiful supply during the final, with the lead
constantly changing hands, but at the final whistle it was Glenn who were ahead by one.
Hard luck to the U12s, and well done to all the players and mentors. |

the event will be on sale soon, so contact committee if you are interested. Thanks to
Pat Loy and his team, to Phil McCormack of Five FM, to Michael McLoughlin and the staff
at Bellini's, to Pat McGinn who hosted the event, and to our three excellent judges,
Ronan Murtagh, Catríona Ruane and Anthony Sloan. The X Factor final will be in the
Canal Court on November 20th - tickets are not yet released for the final.
